For this remaster, two of our core principles are protecting the authenticity of the original Diablo II experience and making it more accessible in this modern age. In the end, it is mostly a grind to find different good builds, as if I remember correctly, there was no easy way to respec, but I may be misremembering. When making games, there are certain realities development teams need to face when confronted with dilemmas that impose on the gameplay experience. So I had to put more skill points into Frost Aura, but that was it. In my above example, I was able to not die against every single enemy until I ran into Diablo, the end boss, who was immune to fire damage. Finding viable builds can be hit and miss, but it really depends on what you're interested in doing. You can solo everything, you don't have to play with others if you don't want to. You mostly have different difficulties to select, but mainly play through the same content.

No rifts or any mechanics / content like that. But obviously you don't have to play that way. Like, literally 0 effort to complete the game. I invested every skill point in Fire Aura and Frost Aura and just walked in circles throughout the whole game, while the Auras were doing damage every second to the enemies. I played D2 my first time with the Paladin class and literally only used 2 passive skills throughout the whole game, with no active skills at all. Monster ai aggro range will remain the same Balancing lighting to make sure it's not too dark so no disadvantage when playing with the remastered graphics.

Want to allow modding, recognize mods are important to D2 community. Don't want ultrawide to show monsters outside of aggro range. Diablo clone will be similar but there will be some changes because of global servers.

Do not need internet to play offline characters. ebug and Andariel quest bug most likely staying in. Still looking at which bugs should be fixed. No cross-play but can see every platform on leaderboards. When an aura is active, you cannot use other right click skills when using a controller.

Diablo II classic players will have original stash. MrLlamaSC answering some questions on his stream: It's basically an action bar with extra steps. Now if you press Q, Fireball will become selected as your right-click skill. you could, say, bind Fireball to your Q key. You can use the hot keys to quickly cycle the skills. You select the skill you want to use, then either left- or right-click. The way it works is you have some skills that can be activated with left-click, and some that are activated with right-click. In the original D2, skills could be hot keyed. A javazon can practically waltz through hell with vendor gear, a frenzy barb would struggle to do the same. As for gearing up, builds in D2 have vastly different gear requirements. The game is not particularly well-balanced, and I don't know whether to expect balance patches to come with the remaster. In multiplayer, having a build that does 1/5th as much damage as the next guy's will probably feel bad, though. I would say for finishing the game, virtually any build can be 'viable', some just require you to play through the game slower or more cautiously. Functional, but not particularly satisfying. Or just run past enemies who are immune to your build's damage type. The big roadblock for solo play are immunities, which are something you just need to build around if you want to play solo.

Solo is perfectly viable, though grouping up can certainly make the game easier, especially if you're accompanied by higher level/better geared players. Click to shrink. There is nothing in D2 as difficult as pushing high-end GRs, but beating the final boss of D2 on Hell difficulty is way harder than playing through the story of D3.
